Collect Calls
If you need to call home or someone in an emergency and you
don't have any calling card cell phone or any other option, and if you only use it on
rare occasion, then this type of service will be useful. When you make a collect call, it costs you nothing, but the person you
call will be charged only if they answer the phone and accept the charges.

Note: There is no collect call service offered from cell phones to other
phones
Instructions/ faq's on how to use the Collect Calling
Service:
- Dial collect call numbers (some of them listed bellow) and follow the automated voice
or the live-person instructions.
- You will be asked for the phone number of the person you are calling.
- When the system asks for your name, it will record whatever the name you tell in the phone.
- The person you are calling (recipient) will get a call from the automated system.
- The system will tell the recipient that they have received a collect call and it might replay the recorded name by your
voice or the system will tell your name.
- Wait for the person you are calling to approve and try to keep the message as short as possible.
- Most of the calls might be billed in 1-minute increments.
- If the person isn't there, you can choose an option to leave a collect message.
- Recipient will be charged when they accept the call or the message and
the charges.

An additional 10.2% Federal Universal Service
Charge is added to all interstate calls. Also, calls from a payphone
will have an additional $0.55 payphone surcharge.
Rates and surcharges vary for in-state calls and calls billed to
credit cards and local phone company calling cards.
Dial 1-800-COLLECT and press '0' for operator assistance who can
assist you with rate quotes.
Whenever your call can
not be connected you will be offered the ability to send a collect
message. The receiver will be given the same opportunity to accept
or deny the message as they do with collect calls.

Collect Call: 1 800 CALL ATT (AT&T service)

If the person you are trying to reach is not home or you get a busy signal, CALL ATT will ask if you want to retry the number, or leave a collect message.
Upon leaving your message, the CALL ATT collect message system will try for up to 9 hours to contact the recipient and will give them another 24 hours to accept
the charges and hear your collect message. If the system doesn't reach them personally, it will leave a message on their answering machine and instruct them to
simply call 1-866-288-8000 to retrieve their collect message.
The usage rate of this service is $0.99* minute with a service charge of $3.99* per call.
AT&T Universal Connectivity Charge applies.
AT&T Regulatory Assessment Fee applies.
Public Payphone Surcharge may apply to calls placed from a public or semi-public payphone.
Other charges listed under Miscellaneous Charges, Credits and Taxes may apply.
In-state rates vary and may be higher.
